Krim is a strategy game that lets you command the Red Army or Wehrmacht forces and their allies during the first battle over the Crimean Peninsula during from late 1941 to mid-1942.
Near the end of what seemed to be a successful campaign against Soviet forces in late 1941, Hitler became concerned about the use of the Crimea to bomb the Ploesti Oil fields in Romania. He was also concerned about the interdiction of Army Group South’s Communication Lines.
Therefore, on 12 August 1941, he ordered Generaloberst Ritter von Schobert’s 11th Army to prepare for operations to clear the Crimea. Von Schobert was killed in an airplane accident. His replacement was General der Infantrie Erich von Manstein. The Plan was for Hansen’s 54th Corps to seize the Perekop position and, after a breach, use the 49th Mountain Corps to fan out into the peninsula.
The attack started on the 24th of September on the Soviet Defensive line on the Perekop Isthmus. Extensive Defenses on the 4 to 5-mile area proved very difficult. The soviet leader Col. General Fydor Kuznetsov waged an aggressive defense.
On October 22 STAVKA replaced Kuznetsov with Lt. General P.I Batov. The change in command could not affect the outcome. By the 27th lead elements of the German units had broken the line. Although his men were exhausted, Manstein planned to smash the remnants on the 28th of October.
The lead assault battalions found the defenses empty. The Soviets had abandoned their trenches during the night and started a headlong retreat to Sevastopol and the other cities on the peninsula. This is where this game starts.
German units overran the Peninsula in a repeat of the blitzkrieg tactics at the start of the Russian campaign. By November 15th, all objectives had been taken except for the Sevastopol area.
