First Turn Soviet Retreat
No Soviet unit may be anywhere in the top hex row at the end of the first Soviet movement phase.
First Turn Supply
All units of both sides start the “OCT / NOV” calendar month in Operational Supply. All units of both sides are in Tactical Supply for the first Player Turn Couplet.
First Calendar Month Operational Transfers
No unit of either side may conduct an OpTrans during calendar month I (Oct/Nov).
Soviet Disorganization
Soviet units may not attack or barrage during the first two player turn couplets. This reflects the disorganization caused by the defeat at and retreat from Perekop.
Soviet Mandatory Assaults
Starting in the first Soviet Prepared Assault Phase of Calendar Month 3 (January 1942) and ending with the last Soviet Prepared Assault Phase in Calendar Month 6 (April 1942), inclusive, the Soviet Player must make at least 3 prepared assaults in each of his prepared assault phases. Each assault must be made by at least 2 divisions or their equivalent in non-divisional units. Artillery barrages do not count toward the three assaults. If the Soviet Player fails to make 3 assaults, he forfeits the game.
